092 Lifted Far Away
Hey Hill, much of the rain that runs down your slopes was lifted off a sea far away, one you will never see.
Who far away is working for us today?
Who far away is working for you today?
A green hill on a monsoon morning, streams running down its slopes.
None of the hill's water started here.
What really happens
Much of the rain that falls on land began as water evaporated from the sea, often far away.
Winds carry that moisture over land, where it cools and falls as rain.
How we know: The water cycle is basic earth science; studies of where rain comes from show oceans supply much of the rain over land.
The turn
We think what we have comes from nearby.
Much of it was lifted, carried and delivered by forces and people we will never meet.
Three takeaways
- Your rain came from far away.
- Give thanks to the unseen givers.
- Be the far-off sea for someone else.
The sea we never see waters our hill.
The clouds fill the watercups of the river, hiding themselves in the distant hills.
